FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our first session is about orientation — understanding what brought you here, what you're hoping shifts, and whether we're the right fit to do this work together. Sessions run 53 minutes and take place in person at my Mooresville office.

What can I expect from our first session?

Do you offer virtual sessions?

I work primarily with adults and older adults (65+) navigating anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, and life transitions — people who are used to holding things together for everyone else and are ready to find out what's just theirs. Many come in feeling overwhelmed, facing a big change, or sensing a gap between how life looks from the outside and how it feels. I see clients individually — I don't currently offer couples, family, or group sessions.

Who do you work with?

It depends on what you're working through. Some clients arrive with something specific and find clarity within a defined stretch of sessions; others stay longer as new layers surface. I'll check in with you regularly on the pace so it still fits what you need.

How long does the work typically take?

I require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. I'll bill your first cancellation made 12–24 hours in advance at 50% of the session rate. Any subsequent cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice, or a missed appointment, I'll bill at the full session rate.

What is your cancellation policy?

I'm not able to provide crisis support outside of our scheduled sessions. If you're in crisis, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — I want you to have support the moment you need it, even when it's not during our time together.

What happens if I'm in a mental health emergency?

What you share with me stays private — that's the foundation of our work together. The only exceptions are the ones every therapist is required to follow: if there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, if a child, elder, or dependent adult may be at risk, or if I'm required by law to share something, like in response to a court order. I'll always try to talk with you first if any of this ever comes up. I also review my work with my supervisor to make sure you're getting the best care, and she's held to that same standard of confidentiality.

Is what I share confidential?

I'm not able to complete paperwork for disability determinations or Emotional Support Animal requests. If I'm asked to be involved in a legal matter, I can only speak to what I've directly observed in our work together — I'm not able to offer opinions beyond that. If this comes up, I'll be upfront with you about what I can and can't provide, and I bill any additional time this requires separately.

Do you provide letters for disability, ESA, or legal proceedings?

No. As a therapist, I don't prescribe medication. If medication support would be helpful, I can refer you to a psychiatric provider to explore that alongside our work together.

Do you prescribe medication?

What if we're not the right fit?

That's a normal part of starting therapy, and I'd rather you tell me than stay in a fit that isn't working. If it becomes clear early on that I'm not the right therapist for what you need, I'll say so directly and help you find a better match.

Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. Your first two sessions are billed as Clinical Assessments, which let us determine together whether we're the right fit while doing real clinical work from the start.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes — I'm a contracted clinician with RJ Wolf Counseling & Associates, and scheduling and billing are handled through their office. My clinical work is independently supervised.

Are you part of RJ Wolf Counseling?

LCSWA stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I have my master's in social work and I'm completing supervised hours toward full licensure, working under the supervision of Kathleen FitzJefferies, MSW, LCSW.

What does LCSWA mean?

Reach out through my contact page or click Begin the Conversation below. I'll follow up directly to schedule your first session through RJ Wolf Counseling & Associates.

How do I get started?

Yes — I'm in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, and Cigna/Evernorth. I also welcome self-pay clients and can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. I handle billing through RJ Wolf Counseling & Associates. I require payment at the time of service — I accept credit or HSA cards, and I ask every client to keep an active card on file.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — I offer telehealth across North Carolina, alongside in-person sessions at my Mooresville office. New and existing clients are both welcome to use either, and we can figure out together which makes the most sense for you.

I don't list specific rates here since they vary by plan and session type. If you're paying out of pocket or don't plan to use insurance, I'll provide a written Good Faith Estimate of your expected costs before we begin, as part of scheduling your first session.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Let me know when we meet, and I'll add it — this list grows as the questions I actually get from clients grow.

My office is located at 150 Fairview Road, Suite 310, in Mooresville, NC, 28117 and I work with clients throughout Iredell and Mecklenburg counties, including Cornelius, Davidson, and the greater Lake Norman area.
